RC Toys UA — an online shop for radio-controlled models (Traxxas, Arrma, Axial)

Каталог 1500+ RC-моделей і запчастин від 36 брендів — з фільтрами, dual-CTA на картці товару і чекаутом під 3 українські перевізники.

Context

RC Toys UA is an online shop for radio-controlled models that grew out of founder Pavlo’s long-running hobby. The platform solves two problems at once: selling ready-to-run (RTR) models, and serving the community of experienced hobbyists through a catalogue of spare parts and advisory content. So this isn’t “WooCommerce out of the box” — it’s a shop with an unusual information architecture: 9 model types, 25+ sub-categories of parts and electronics, 36 brands — all of which had to fit within one clear navigation.

What we built on the homepage

A hero rotator focused on key models

The first screen is a full-screen slider of manufacturer photo banners (the Traxxas Mini Slash 4×4 by default). Above the banner is a compact bar with the logo, the main navigation, a mega-catalogue menu, a search box with the hint “Frequently searched: Traxxas Remo Hobby MJX”, and a cart showing “N items for N UAH”.

A category catalogue — a Swiper with 8 groups

Below the hero is a horizontal Swiper with illustrated category cards: “RC Cars and Off-Roaders”, “Electronics”, “Spare Parts”, “Radio Control Gear”, “Batteries and Chargers”, “Tools”, “RC Boats”, “Model Kits”. Each card has a thematic photo, a title and a short description — so a newcomer immediately understands what they’ll find in that section.

A promo banner for the flagship model

For the top flagship model, a separate full-screen promo block was built with a cinematic photo of the Hoonigan Hoonicorn Apex 2, the model logo, technical details (1:10 4WD On Road RTR) and a Ford Official Licensed Product badge. It mixes storytelling merchandising with a direct CTA to the product card.

An 8-USP advantages block

Instead of a routine “free shipping / warranty” list, an 8-card advantages block reflects the shop’s real role within the community: Sales, Spare parts, Materials, Consultations, Support, Assistance, Service, Video content. This positions RC Toys UA not just as a shop, but as a partner for a long-term hobby.

An “About us” section plus embedded video reviews

A separate section where the shop’s owner speaks to the customer personally — explaining why RC Toys UA isn’t just a point of sale, but a project by someone for whom RC modelling is a core part of life. Right below “About us” is a strip of YouTube reviews of current models. So every homepage visitor sees two trust signals at once: a real person behind the brand, plus a steady flow of expert content.

The /shop/ catalogue — filters and sorting

The catalogue archive is built around a left-hand sidebar of filters (Brands — a checkbox list with product counts, Categories, Price) and a right-hand main grid of product cards, 3×N. At the top are sorting options (New/Popular/Price) and a page-size selector (24/48/96). Each product card shows a photo, a title, a short description and the price in hryvnia.

Product card — two purchase scenarios

The product card uses a dual-CTA design: a primary orange “Add to cart” CTA (the standard WC flow) and a black secondary “Quick order” CTA (a callback form with no account required). This removes the barrier for buyers who don’t want to go through a full checkout. On the left is a zoomable gallery (Fancybox), with thumbnails and navigation arrows below it. On the right, under the CTA, are three info cards: Payment (Visa/Mastercard plus cash), Delivery (Nova Poshta / Ukrposhta / Mist Express — with logos), Warranty (1 month plus a 14-day return period).

Quick order with reCAPTCHA

“Quick order” opens an overlay modal with the product photo, its name and price on the left, and a form on the right (Name, Phone, Email, Message) protected by reCAPTCHA. The request goes to a manager, bypassing the standard WC flow — the customer doesn’t need to choose a carrier, a branch, or fill in an address. The manager calls back and completes the order over the phone.

Cart

The cart is split into two columns: on the left, a list of items with the standard quantity controls (-/+), on the right, a sticky summary with the subtotal, delivery “per carrier rates”, the grand total and a “Place order” CTA. Below the summary are repeated Payment/Delivery/Warranty info cards, offering a second touchpoint. At the bottom is a “Related products” cross-sell carousel and a repeat of the Hoonigan Apex 2 promo.

A three-carrier checkout

The most complex part of the project is a custom checkout that supports three Ukrainian carriers (Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta, Mist Express) × three delivery methods each (branch, parcel locker, courier). For each combination there’s a dedicated block for searching a city and branch (autocomplete via the carrier’s API). At the top are Contact details (First name, Last name, Phone, Email), and in the sidebar a full order summary with a product image and a “Confirm order” CTA.

A brands page /brendy/

A separate landing page featuring 36 manufacturers: Traxxas, Axial, Arrma, Losi, Kyosho, Tamiya, Tekno, Team Associated, Bandai, DJI, Remo Hobby, WPL, FlySky, VRX Racing, Hobbywing, FMS, MJX, ZD Racing, MN Model, Radiomaster, WLtoys, Spektrum, UDI RC, SkyRC, Vanquish Products, Maverick, ZOP Power, Gens Ace, Hot RC, JJRC, PKCell, ProTek RC, Redcat, RLAARLO, Sense Innovation, ToolkitRC, Yikong. Each card has a logo, a unique editorial description, and two CTAs (“About the brand” — a dedicated brand page, and “All products” — a filtered catalogue).

Contacts

The contacts page is laid out in two columns: on the left, a hotline phone number with click-to-call, an email address, links to YouTube/TikTok/Instagram/Telegram/Facebook, and a branded illustrated cat mascot with an RC car. On the right is a full 6-field enquiry form (Name, Phone, Email, Enquiry category, Subject, Message) with a “Send message” button.

Result

RC Toys UA is a fully-fledged e-commerce shop that serves more than just transactional purchases — it acts as an information resource for the modelling community: 9 model types × 25+ spare-part sub-categories × 36 brands × a separate content section with video reviews and a blog. The purchase scenario is duplicated between a “classic cart plus a 3-carrier checkout” and a “quick order via callback”, removing the barrier for different types of customers. The interface is set up so that both a newcomer (through the illustrated category navigation) and an experienced modeller (through brand and part filters) find what they need right away.
