The trial starts when you ask
A fresh install is the free version, nothing switches on by itself. The “Try Pro for 7 days” button → e-mail → the key right in the window and by e-mail.

Full module description
Payments with SumUp for OpenCart takes cards with 3-D Secure, wallets and the local methods SumUp enabled for your account. The buyer pays in the SumUp form in the shop, and an order becomes paid only after a check against the SumUp API.
What the buyer sees
After confirming the order the buyer sees the payment form on the shop page. If the bank declines, the buyer sees a message and a Pay again button. SumUp translates the form into the buyer’s language.
What the admin gets
Paste the API key and press the connection check: the module shows the merchant code, country and account currency. There is no webhook to set up, its address travels with every payment.
The order has a SumUp tab with the status, amount, method, transaction and all attempts. If the amount or currency does not match, the order moves to a review status with the reason.
How it works, step by step
- The buyer confirms the order and the module creates a payment in SumUp.
- The buyer pays in the SumUp form.
- The module reads the payment from the SumUp API and completes the order.
- If the buyer does not come back, the webhook completes it, and in Pro the payment watchdog too.
Under the hood
- Only the SumUp API answer decides a payment, not what arrived in the browser or the webhook.
- The API key is encrypted and is not in the debug log.
- A payment is applied once, even if the buyer’s return and the webhook arrive together.
Installation
- Extensions → Installer: upload the archive for your version without renaming the file. OpenCart 2.3 without FTP: copy upload/ to the store root.
- Extensions → Payments → SumUp → Install → Edit.
- Paste the secret API key and press the connection check.
- Make a test payment in sandbox and paste the live account key.
- For Pro: paste the key or start the 7-day trial.
Questions
about the module
Didn't find the answer? Message us on Telegram and we'll reply within a business day.
What do I need from SumUp?
A merchant account allowed to take online payments and a secret API key. For tests SumUp gives every account a sandbox that moves no real money.
The buyer paid but the order did not update.
Open the SumUp tab on the order. Pro has a check button and a watchdog that finds such payments by itself.
Why is the method missing at checkout?
The currency cannot be charged, or in match mode it differs from the account currency. The connection check shows the account currency.
Are Apple Pay and Google Pay available?
Wallets appear in the form when SumUp enables them for the account. Google Pay in Pro needs your Google merchant ID.
OpenCart 2.3 does not install the archive.
The 2.3 installer copies files over FTP. Without FTP, copy the upload/ folder from the archive to the store root.
Is this the official SumUp module?
No. The module is made by CatCode studio; SumUp is a trademark of its owner.
