Bulgaria Couriers for WooCommerce — Econt and Speedy: delivery to the address, an office or a locker

Bulgaria Couriers for WooCommerce is a shipping plugin for stores in Bulgaria. The two largest couriers of the country in one module: Econt with its offices and Econtomats, and Speedy with its offices and APT lockers. The buyer picks delivery to the address, to an office or to a locker right at checkout, and the manager creates the waybill, prints the label and sees the parcel status without opening the couriers’ portals. For OpenCart 4, 3 and 2.3 there is a separate version — Bulgaria Couriers: Econt & Speedy for OpenCart.

What you need. A business account with every courier you switch on: Econt — the e-Econt user name and password; Speedy — the Web API user name and password. Honestly about testing: Econt was tested live on Econt’s official test system (demo.econt.com); Speedy — against its official Web API documentation on a test server, because Speedy has no public test system and gives test access to its clients only. What the buyer sees

The buyer sees the methods of both couriers you added to the shipping zone, with prices. Choose delivery to an office or a locker and a panel appears under the methods: the list starts with offices in the buyer’s city, search goes by city, street or office name, in Cyrillic or Latin. Switch to delivery to the address and the panel goes away, while the buyer’s own address stays as it was: the plugin never writes the office address into the buyer’s fields, on the classic or the block checkout. Each courier keeps its own chosen office, so switching between Econt and Speedy mixes nothing up.

Try to place an order to an office without choosing one and the server refuses it with an explanation, on any checkout. An office chosen earlier never ends up in an order with another shipping method. The Nova Poshta and Ukrposhta shipping modules by CatCode can run next to it: each panel shows only with its own method.

What the admin gets

• Four methods in WooCommerce shipping zones: Econt to the address, Econt to an office or Econtomat, Speedy to the address, Speedy to an office or locker. Shown for Bulgarian addresses only.
• Method price — fixed, free from an order amount, free-shipping coupons, weight limit per method.
• Courier offices in your database. The “Download … offices and lockers” button pulls the offices and lockers of each courier, then they are refreshed every day. Closed Speedy offices and drop-off-only offices stay out of the list.
• “Check the connection” checks the account: for Econt it fills in the sender from the e-Econt profile, for Speedy — the contract objects and services.
• Passwords are stored encrypted in the database and never reach the HTML of the settings page.

• Waybill from the order screen: weight, cash on delivery (for the payment methods you ticked), review before paying, declared value if you want it.
• PDF label (Speedy — A4 or A6, Econt returns its own PDF), status refresh and cancelling — buttons in the same box.
• Change the office by hand if the buyer asks — by the office code; an unknown code is refused.
• A waybill for any order: even if the buyer chose “Flat rate”, you pick the courier in the order.
• Tracking — the waybill number with a link to the courier’s page in e-mails, on the thank-you page and in the buyer’s account.
• A log of every courier call in the WooCommerce logs (source bulgaria-couriers); errors are always logged.

How it works — step by step

1. Settings. WooCommerce → Bulgaria Couriers: the accounts of the couriers you need, “Check the connection”, downloading the offices.
2. Shipping zone. In your “Bulgaria” zone add the Econt and Speedy methods and set the price, the free-shipping threshold and the weight limit.
3. Checkout. The buyer picks a courier and a delivery type, and for an office or a locker — the office in the panel. With Pro the delivery price comes from the courier’s tariff for the buyer’s city or office and the cart weight.
4. Server-side check. For an office method, an order without an office or with an office that is not in the database does not go through.
5. Order. The office is stored in the order and, if you want, in the shipping address too, so e-mails and other tools see it. The address saved in the buyer’s account stays the buyer’s address.
6. Waybill. The manager creates it on the order screen (with Pro — automatically on the chosen status or in bulk from the list) and prints the label.
7. Status. The “Refresh status” button asks the courier; with Pro the states sync every hour, changes go to the order notes, and a delivered order can become “Completed” by itself.
8. Cancelling. A waybill the courier has not collected yet is cancelled from the order screen.

Under the hood

• The office lives on the server only. The picker’s JavaScript never writes into the buyer’s address fields. The office goes into the session separately for each courier, and into the order only when the shipping method is that courier’s office method; otherwise the link is dropped.
• The buyer’s account is safe. The office address is written into the order after WooCommerce has saved the buyer’s data, so next time the buyer gets their own address, not the office.
• A live tariff without surprises (Pro). If the courier answers with zero, with an error, with a price in another currency or not in time, the method shows your fixed price, never “Free”. An office method does not ask for a tariff before an office is chosen.
• Courier protocols: Econt — the e-Econt JSON services (createLabel in calculate and create mode, getShipmentStatuses, deleteLabels), Speedy — Web API v1 (calculate, shipment, print, track, cancel). Review before paying is never added for lockers.
• Passwords — AES-256-CBC with HMAC, no XOR.
• A Pro gate that never bricks the store: when the trial ends only the Pro features stop, shipping and waybills keep working.
• Deleting the plugin removes its office table, settings and cron jobs.

How to install

1. Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin: choose bulgaria-couriers-for-woocommerce-1.0.0.zip and activate.
2. WooCommerce → Bulgaria Couriers: fill in the account of every courier you switch on and save.
3. Press “Check the connection” (Econt fills in the sender from the profile, Speedy — the objects and services) and “Download … offices and lockers”.
4. WooCommerce → Settings → Shipping → your “Bulgaria” zone → Add shipping method → the Econt and Speedy methods.
5. Place a test order to an office and create the waybill on the order screen.
6. For Pro: paste the licence key from the e-mail after payment, or start the 7-day trial.
