Full module description

Omnibus Price History for OpenCart is a module that records the price history of your products and shows the lowest price from the 30 days before the discount next to every special price. That is what Article 6a of Directive 98/6/EC, as amended by Directive (EU) 2019/2161, requires in every EU country since 28 May 2022. Builds for OpenCart 4.x, 3.x and 2.3, with no core file edits.

The core version is free. Price history, the note on the product page and in listing cards (categories, search, specials, brands, product modules), your own texts in four languages and the daily price snapshot all work without a license. Pro adds national country rules (a period longer than 30 days, progressive discounts, a shorter period for new arrivals), replaces the struck-through price with the price before the discount and calculates the percentage from it, keeps a separate history per customer group, and adds a compliance report with CSV plus a manual prior price for products with incomplete history.

How it works, step by step

  1. Right after installation the module takes a snapshot of every product’s current price — the history starts there.
  2. You add a special price, with or without a start date.
  3. The module finds the moment the current special took effect and takes the lowest price from the 30 days before it — earlier specials included.
  4. The note appears on the product page and in listing cards; the report shows whether the discount is genuine.
  5. The special ends — the note disappears.

Under the hood

  • Its own history table — one row per price change per customer group, with the date the price took effect.
  • A special that was already running at installation gets no invented prior price: status “No price before the reduction”, no note (in Pro you can enter the price manually).
  • The struck-through price is replaced only for a genuine discount — if the special is not below the period minimum, the module never draws an “old” price lower than the new one.
  • The snapshot URL is protected by a key: without it — 403.
  • Uninstalling removes the events and the cron job; the history stays in the database so a reinstall does not wipe your evidence.

How to install

  1. OpenCart 4: Extensions → Installer → upload cc_omnibus.ocmod.zip and click “Install”. OpenCart 3: Extensions → Installer → cc_omnibus-oc3.ocmod.zip. OpenCart 2.3: upload the contents of the upload/ folder from cc_omnibus-oc2.ocmod.zip to the store root (FTP or your hosting file manager).
  2. Extensions → Extensions → Modules → Omnibus Price History → “Install”, then “Edit”.
  3. Enable storefront display, check the texts and save.
  4. If the OpenCart cron does not run on your hosting, add the snapshot URL from the “Daily snapshot” tab to your hosting cron.
  5. For Pro: “Try Pro” → an e-mail for the trial, or your key after purchase.

Is this legal advice?

No. The module applies Article 6a literally; check the national options against the law of the countries you sell to.

A special was already running when I installed the module.

The module does not invent a prior price: there is no note, and the report says "No price before the reduction". In Pro you can enter it manually.

Does the license need renewing?

No. For OpenCart the license is a one-time payment and lasts forever.

Does the module change theme templates?

No. OpenCart events only; disable the module and the storefront is standard again.
